This is the third edition of the Leopold Bloom Art Award, which is aimed at supporting progressive contemporary visual artists in Hungary and their presence in the international art scene.At the end of the competition period the more than 100 applicants, which number far exceeded the previous years, show the popularity of one of Hungary’s most valuable fine art prize. The applications contain the works of painters, photographers, scluptors, and also performance artists.

The young, independent and international curator trio received the applications to run the pre-judging process. The pre-selected 15 artists will be announced on the 16 June at Bloomsday. After that, the jury narrows down the number of the pre-selected artists to 5-6 and then picks the winner after having visited each of the studios.

The Awards Ceremony will be held on 4 September 2015, at 6 p.m. in the Whale, the exhibition space of the New Budapest Gallery. At the same time the exhibition of this year’s finalists opens and will run until the 15 November 2015.
